Lists of Recognized Moves

There are many different dance organizations that have their lists of "recognized" moves for that organization. These lists can be used for competitions, examinations, and specification of workshop levels. For example, when competing in a "Silver" level competition, dancers are only allowed to do the moves on the Bronze and Silver level syllabi (and certain basic moves along with these). Moves from the gold level lists or moves not on the lists are forbidden during such a competition.

Syllabi that I currently have online are from 3 organizations: ISTD (United States Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing), IDTA (International Dance Teacher's Association), and Roundalab (The International Society of Round Dance Teachers). I might mention that while the formal descriptions of the moves used by these organizations is copyrighted by the individual organizations, the U.S. Supreme Court has ruled that listings of names cannot be copyrighted -- unless it contains a "personal interpretation" of the information in the lists. These lists are thus copyright free, and I release the reader from any copyrights involved in my personal "interpretation" of the information on these lists.
